Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (Mitsubishi Electric) celebrates 30 years in the Pittsburgh community today. The company was founded in 1985 as a joint venture of Westinghouse and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan. Since its founding with a staff of eleven, to now employing more than 1,000 people nationwide, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. has grown to become one of America’s major suppliers of electrical products and services.

Mitsubishi Electric focuses on building relationships with customers and delivering high quality products by blending the best of American and Japanese business practices. Headquartered in Warrendale, Pennsylvania, the company supplies products and services that support critical infrastructures, including the electric power grid, the rail transportation system, drinking and waste water systems, data centers, and communication systems. Mitsubishi Electric launched its first factory in 1990 to manufacture high voltage circuit breakers. During the ensuing 30 years, the company invested more than $300 million in the United States to expand its manufacturing capabilities and product offerings.

“Over the past 30 years, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products has seen tremendous growth and expansion. We accomplished this growth with the support of our customers, with the investment from our parent company, and with the dedication of our employees,” Brian Heery, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. states. “To meet increasing demand for our products and services, we continue to expand local design and manufacturing content and expect to expand our products globally.”

Each year, the company’s employees and the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation donate thousands of dollars along with volunteer hours to non-profit organizations, including the Woodlands Foundation, the Early Learning Institute, and Life’s Work.

Today Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. marks its 30th anniversary with a luncheon for employees and guests. The event includes tours of the company’s headquarters, factories, and engineering offices as well as brief remarks from its top executives and executives from Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan.
