The 890 router series from Porter-Cable packages a quick-release motor with multiple base and kit options to meet the needs of woodworkers. The motor is a 2-1/4-hp, soft-start unit offering adjustable speeds from 10,000 rpm to 23,000 rpm. It handles most routing tasks from raised panels in a router table to rounding the edge on a table top. A dedicated knob enables easy micro-height adjustments both in and out of a router table. Features include a dual-position, dust-proof switch, finger grips on the handles and motor barrel, and auto-engaging spindle lock. The clear, 2-1/2-in. opening sub-base is interchangeable with sub-bases from 690 series routers, and the series accepts existing Porter-Cable edge guides. Also, the motor will spiral into 690 series bases for additional expansion opportunities. The series comprises six models, 890, 891, 892, 893PK, 894PK and 895PK. All PK models include the 890 fixed base with motor, as well as a full-featured plunge base with machined brass post bushings, quick motor release, thumb rotating depth stop, template guide sized sub-base, removable springs and built-in dust collection. All models except the 890 and 891 include a carrying case with bit and accessory storage.
