Schneeberger has introduced two linear guides with integrated linear encoder. These integrated scale guides are new versions of the company’s Advanced Measuring System, the AMSA Generation 3-A linear guide for the Roller Monorail MR and the 4-A linear guide for the Ball Monorail BM. Offering a space-saving system that can be used in very restricted settings, both allow the addition of the SPL lubrication cartridge and wipers to help eliminate the potential of contamination from oils, greases and coolants. Linear scales provide machines with positioning feedback in all three axes for machining accuracy and repeatability. Resolution of the magnetic integrated encoder can be as fine as 0.06 microns, with interpolation. The units are drop-in replacements for most standard, anti-friction profile linear guides. The AMSA 3-A is available in roller guide sizes MR25, 35, 45, 55 and 65 and with compact scanhead lengths of 75 mm to 90 mm, and the AMSA 4-A is available in ball guide sizes BM15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45, with scanhead lengths between 66 mm and 78 mm. Machine tools are the most popular application for these guides.
