Total Safety Receives Top Honors During Houston Business Roundtable’s 29th Annual Safety Excellence Awards
By Business Wire News
Total Safety, a leading global provider of integrated industrial safety services, strategies, and equipment, was awarded the highest honor of “Best in Category” on May 20, 2016 during the 29th Annual Safety Excellence Awards sponsored by the Houston Business Roundtable (HBR). Recognized for outstanding safety performance in the Technical Support/X-Large Contractor category, Total Safety was nominated for this prestigious award by client owners ExxonMobil (Baytown, TX), Dow (Deer Park, TX), and INEOS.
The Safety Excellence Award is a cooperative effort between owner companies in the Gulf Coast and their contractors to improve onsite safety, eliminate accidents, and reduce injuries to employees. There are no self-nominations for this award – contractors must be nominated by their clients.
Following an initial safety performance evaluation by HBR, nominees are down-selected to a few in each category to participate in field audits. Criteria used for field auditing selection include: fatalities, total recordable injuries and illnesses, lost workday cases, safety policies and procedures, year-to-year improvement in statistics, and documented best practices. Total Safety’s field audit was conducted in the ExxonMobil Baytown location, where it has had a presence since 1991.
Steve Long, Director of HSE, received the award on behalf of Total Safety.
“Being nominated by a customer is a significant recognition in itself,” said Long. “Competing against other worthy nominees and being selected ‘Best in Category’ is a tremendous accomplishment, and is a true testament to the teamwork and outstanding support we receive from our partners at ExxonMobil as well as Dow and INEOS. We couldn’t be more excited and honored.”
“Total Safety’s nomination by three valued customers is validation of the hard work and dedication of our entire Total Safety team,” said Paul Tyree, Chief Operating Officer for Total Safety. “Our employees drive our safety culture and performance by executing all elements of our Safety Management System. We are proud to provide services and support to all of our clients and customers by valuing and promoting our mission statement: ‘…to ensure the safe Wellbeing of Workers Worldwide.’”
In 2015, Total Safety received the “Gold” award in the same category, and was nominated by Dow, LyondellBasell, and ExxonMobil.
