November 20, 2015 | By Business Wire News

HONG KONG

Li Tong Group, LTG, the world’s leading provider of Reverse Supply Chain Management (RSCM) services for the technology and telecom industries, today announced the completion of a study on the carbon footprint savings of Original Equipment Manufacturers’ supply chains when using closed-loop RSCM. The study, commissioned and initiated in November 2013, shows the unique ability of RSCM to reduce the carbon footprint of electronics manufacturing through the recovery, re-use, and re-manufacturing (3R) of major components.

LTG specializes in 3R processes of both Post-Industrial (PIR) and Post-Consumer Recycling (PCR) for the world’s leading OEMs, governmental entities and other customers. Through this closed-loop RSCM process, LTG gives parts and components a second life by removing them from devices that have reached end of life and redeploying them in new consumer, commercial and industrial devices.

The study shows that OEMs can significantly reduce the carbon footprint of their forward supply chains through harvesting parts and then re-using those components within the manufacturing process of next-generation devices and other products.

“RSCM can reduce up to 80-percent of the carbon footprint from a virgin manufacturing process of a 7inch e-reader tablet when re-using major components sourced from parts harvesting” said Linda Li, Chief Strategy Officer, Li Tong Group. “As the world continues to move towards more sustainable manufacturing, RCSM provides a solution that is commercially and environmentally sustaining.”

Many factors enable LTG to successfully reduce the emissions of its clients manufacturing processes, including the collective expertise of the engineers it employs throughout its global network of 21 facilities and the deep relationships it has cultivated throughout the supply networks of its OEM customers.
