Nexen has announced the Turck torque limiter with proximity sensors. The torque limiter disconnects the main power source from its downstream components in the event of a torque overload or product jam, which protects the gear reducer, machine and product. The proximity sensor is mounted within the envelope of the torque limiter length, providing easy mounting and ensuring proper torque transmission. Model sizes TL10A and TL80A, semi-open units, feature a seal that keeps contaminates out of the ball and detent area. Totally enclosed units are nickel-plated and sealed to keep contaminates out of the ball, detent and spline area, making them suitable for machines requiring washdown, or where liquid products could splash on the unit. These torque limiters are used in the food processing, material handling, newspaper, bottling and packaging industries.
