Redline Detection Unveils Upside of Mandated Essential Equipment Programs

March 4, 2015 | By Business Wire News

INDIANAPOLIS

Redline Detection, the industry leader in OEM-approved diagnostic leak detection equipment, today proved to the trucking industry how mandated essential equipment programs have been hugely successful for the company, and more importantly, for its many OEM and fleet customers. Redline Detection has more than 7,000 machines in the market that have been mandated essential equipment, including its high-pressure HD PowerSmoke, Smoke Pro Total Tech and Portable Leak Detector. These tools are being used in almost 100,000 dealerships and repair facilities around the world allowing technicians to diagnose and repair heavy duty faults quickly and efficiently, saving fleets significant time and money and keeping trucks on the road.

Redline’s HD PowerSmoke is specifically engineered to apply the precise pressure and volume of vapor needed to test the integrity of heavy duty intake and exhaust systems in one quick procedure, with the engine safely off. Used in dealership and repair shops, Redline’s patent-pending PowerSmoke Adaptors expand to seal off most every intake or exhaust system with every brand of heavy duty trucks, as well as medium duty. “Historically, experienced technicians resisted mandated programs. They didn’t want tools shoved down their throats, and who could blame them? But what we are hearing from our customers now is that mandated programs are giving them the tools they need to handle new vehicle challenges that didn’t exist before,” said Alex Parker, executive vice president of Redline Detection. “Technology is moving so fast, technicians are struggling to keep up and the most progressive OEMs are using mandated tool programs to streamline getting new equipment technology and training into the hands of these experienced technicians.

“Our customers—the major OEMs, the big work truck fleets, government agencies—are telling us that they see an immediate impact in how these tools streamline their ability to identify faults, fix the problem right the first time, and reduce downtime. Often, they come back to us singing the praises of the machine and looking for additional equipment solutions.”

Redline Detection’s HD PowerSmoke was recently named essential equipment by a major international trucking manufacturer and is currently in use at 650 certified International Truck locations around the country. For nearly two years, Redline Detection worked in collaboration with major OEM engineers to design and deploy HD PowerSmoke to every dealership and repair shop resulting in immediate, quantifiable results. Redline has also created and provided the technical training to equip these technicians to immediately implement the new technology.

HD PowerSmoke is specifically engineered to apply the precise pressure and volume of vapor needed to test the integrity of heavy duty intake and exhaust systems in one quick procedure, with the engine safely off. Redline’s patent-pending PowerSmoke Adaptors expand to seal off most every intake or exhaust system with every brand of heavy duty trucks, as well as medium duty.

By generating variable vapor pressure from 2 to 20 PSI, HD PowerSmoke gives heavy duty technicians the ability to vary flow as different types and sizes of leaks will be easily visible at different pressures. HD PowerSmoke creates a dense, long-hanging and easily visible vapor without the use of dyes or other contaminants. Many OEMs prohibit the use of dyes in diagnostic testing as they may coat critical sensors and void warranties; once injected, dyes can never be fully removed from the system. HD PowerSmoke’s OEM-mandated vapor-producing fluid is safe for technicians, safe for vehicle engines, and safe for the environment.

HD PowerSmoke is the only diagnostic machine in the heavy duty market that can, in a single 10-minute procedure, reliably detect any boosted intake or exhaust leak, pinpoint its exact location and precisely identify failing components, saving heavy duty truck operators and fleets valuable time, keeping drivers safe from dangerous exhaust fumes and ensuring that work trucks and heavy duty vehicles stay on the road. With this new technology, fleets can be assured there are no exhaust leaks AND ensure the driver cabin/passenger compartments are fully sealed affording a double layer of safety protection. Several American OEMs are presently testing the equipment for use in eliminating dangerous exhaust fumes, and the associated liability, in driver cabin/ passenger compartment.

HD PowerSmoke is on display at the NTEA Work Truck Show March 4-6, 2015. A press conference titled “Redline Detection Unveils the Upside of Mandated Essential Equipment Programs” will be held on March 5 from 2:40 – 3:10 p.m. in Redline Detection’s booth number 438.
