Logic PD, a complete product lifecycle solutions company for the digital world, announced today that Jackie Torfin has been hired to lead the company’s Quality Assurance efforts. As Vice President of Quality Assurance, Torfin is responsible for quality process and quality assurance activities of the organization.

Torfin’s hiring reflects Logic PD’s steadfast commitment to quality and compliance while leading clients through all phases of the product lifecycle. Reporting to Lisa Walker, vice president of product support services and quality, Torfin is charged with creating and supporting a quality culture across Logic PD by driving compliance activities and leading the development, management and implementation of quality system procedures.

“The integration of MedTech connected devices has made quality assurance and regulatory compliance critical components during all phases of the product lifecycle,” said Walker. “Under Jackie’s leadership, we are driving a culture of quality throughout the organization. One that leads clients rather than simply ‘complies’ with the standards. With more than two decades of experience, she will provide our clients with the expertise they require for their next generation of medical devices. ”

Torfin comes to Logic PD with deep expertise in quality control, quality assurance, regulatory affairs and program management having worked for companies such as Beckman Coulter, CIMA Labs Inc, PDL BioPharma, and 3M/Arizant Healthcare. Prior to joining Logic PD, she was Vice President of Regulatory and Quality at Heraeus Medical Components. In this role, Torfin also served as Compliance Officer and head of contract management for the organization and had responsibility for seven sites worldwide, including the United States, Europe and Asia.

During her time at PDL BioPharma/Genmab as Director of Quality her role focused on managing contract manufacturing organizations from the sponsor’s perspective and had responsibility for the management of more than 20 different contract manufacturers.

Torfin has also spent time as a consultant with Quality Leadership Consulting where she worked with clients such as Boston Scientific, St. Jude Medical and others, training them on design controls, CAPA, and good ISO 13485/QSR system design. Her expertise for the last several years has been in Supplier Quality, on both the customer and supplier/contract manufacturer side.

Her dedication to quality extends to her role as an adjunct faculty member in St. Cloud State University’s Master of Medical Technology Quality program. In addition to teaching responsibilities, she was also instrumental in the development of the course curriculum for the University’s Masters of Medical Technology Quality Program and Masters of Regulatory Affairs and Services Program.

A resident of Maple Grove, Minn., Torfin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Augsburg College. She is certified as a Quality Auditor through ASQ and as a notified body auditor for both Europe and Canada.
