Interior Design ‘Flips’ Over Clarus Glassboards, Selects Company as 2015 Best of Year Award Winner

FORT WORTH, Texas

Clarus Glassboards, the leading designer of innovative glass dry erase boards and work space architectural systems, today announced that its latest glassboard offering, Flip, was recognized as Interior Design’s 2015 Best of Year Award winner in the office accessories category. As the preeminent competition for the design industry, the Best of Year Awards honor superior projects and products in all categories of interior design. Clarus accepted the award during Interior Design’s awards gala on December 3 at the IAC Building in New York City.

Clarus’ latest innovation re-imagines how writable surfaces are used in modern workspaces, allowing both sides of a Clarus Glassboard to be utilized for a heightened design aesthetic and elegant functionality. Flip blends Clarus’ acclaimed glassboard style with unique acoustic panels to create a multi-functional product that is truly first of its kind. Rotating a full 180 degrees, Flip’s acoustic panels are 100% thermo pressed PET Felt (Polyethylene Terephthalate) and boast a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of between 0.8 and 1.1 depending on the frequency. Keeping in line with Clarus’ focus on creating smart and clean products, the panels are also all made from 100% recycled materials.

“The inspiration for Flip was born while observing design trends in Europe. The minimalist designs and simple lines were something we wanted to give life to in our boards,” said designer Dony Dawson. “Clarus always wants to push the envelope with product innovation, but also with product design. Our goal with Flip was to create something that was a glassboard when you needed one, and a piece of art when you didn’t.”

Clarus began as a “garage startup” run by its two founders, Jeremy Rincon and Robby Whites, and has swiftly evolved into a vertically-integrated manufacturer under the leadership of both founders and Clarus President, Andrew Philipp. Today, Clarus has more than 100 employees and is an industry-leader, delivering innovative and captivating glass dry erase boards around the world. Clarus has revolutionized how organizations communicate with visual display systems by developing stylish, yet functional and eco-friendly, workplace products fit for any setting, be it an academic institution, a medical facility or even a traditional corporate environment.

“We are incredibly honored to receive this award from Interior Design and to be in the company of such impressive and innovative fellow nominees and award winners,” said Philipp. “We approach every product with a mission to meet a need we see in workspaces in a beautiful and different way. By applying our core principles – from its look and functionality, to the quality of its manufacturing, we believe we’ve found another solution that will delight our customers. Flip represents some of our best work and is just the beginning of many more innovations to come.”

Now in its 10th year, Interior Design’s Best of Year Award nominees were selected by well-respected and esteemed interior designers and architects from around the country. Interior Design’s own Editor-in-Chief, Cindy Allen, personally selected the winners from this group of finalists. Clarus also won a Best of Year Award in 2013 for its Go! Mobile board.
