Immersion Powers NEXON’s Digital Re-Creation of Water Ring Toss Game With Feeling of Water Bubbles

June 17, 2015 | By Business Wire News

SAN JOSE, Calif. & SEOUL, South Korea

Immersion Corporation (NASDAQ:IMMR), the leading developer and licensor of touch feedback technology, today announced that NEXON Co., Ltd., a worldwide leader in free-to-play online and mobile games, and leading Southeast Asia internet company, Garena, have launched an updated, realistic digital re-creation of the popular childhood water ring toss toy, Ringtoss World Tour, with Immersion’s haptic technology, TouchSense® Engage. In the mobile game, Immersion’s technology adds the feeling of water bubbles and tossing and landing rings, the same sensations that people would expect from the real toy, now available in a digital version for Android mobile phones.

“Immersion’s technology helped us re-create an important physical aspect of our game, the feeling you get when you push the button to move the rings where you want them to go,” said Kim Dong-Gun, director of NEXON Korea’s subdivision of devCAT Studio. “It is remarkable that Immersion’s technology can create the soft subtle feel of water bubbles with the same motor that buzzes your mobile phone.”

Ringtoss World Tour is a delightful digital remake of a simple childhood game. NEXON has successfully taken a piece of fun from our past and brought it forward into the digital world,” said Jason Patton, vice president and general manager of Content and Media at Immersion. “This is the value that TouchSense Engage provides to content and applications. The tactile effects make Ringtoss World Tour convincing and true to our childhood memories.”

The enhanced version of Ringtoss World Tour will be available across Southeast Asia, in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
