June 27, 2016 | By Business Wire News

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Immersion Corporation (NASDAQ: IMMR), the leading developer and licensor of touch feedback technology, today announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement with Lenovo PC HK Ltd., a leading global provider of consumer, commercial, and enterprise technology and devices. This agreement enables Lenovo to use Immersion’s TouchSense haptic technology for Windows and Android smartphones and tablets, in order to enable rich tactile effects designed to advance the device user interface and provide higher quality user experience for consumers. The agreement covers Lenovo’s use of Immersion’s TouchSense software for mobile devices with both single and dual actuators.

With the advanced capabilities of Immersion’s haptic technology, manufacturers can simulate the connected experience of the physical world on mobile devices, and increase the value they provide to consumers by creating more interactive and engaging products. Using Immersion’s high-fidelity haptic software, partners can transform user experiences with unique and customizable touch feedback effects; excite the senses in games and videos; restore “mechanical” feel by providing intuitive and unmistakable confirmation; and expand usability when audio and visual feedback are ineffective.

“Our goal at Lenovo is to have our products stand out among the rest in quality of design, usability and advanced features. Likewise, we are constantly focused on the research and development of the most advanced technology on mobile,” said Zhang Hua, Vice-President of Chrome and Android Computing Business Group at Lenovo. “Incorporating the sense of touch in our offerings is in line with our desire to continue to offer innovative and industry-leading products that provide great value to consumers.”

“We’re excited to work with Lenovo to help them leverage the value of touch in their product offering,” said Shuo Liu, managing director, Greater China, Immersion. “The use of haptic technology in mobile devices is continuing to expand across the consumer digital experience.
