Fairchild Recognized as ‘Supplier of the Year’ by the World’s Top Pump Manufacturer

By Business Wire News

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Fairchild (NASDAQ: FCS), a leading global supplier of high-performance semiconductor solutions, was recently named the 2014 ‘Supplier of the Year’ by Grundfos, the world’s largest manufacturer of pumps, annually producing approximately 18 million pumps for residential, commercial and industrial applications.

Fairchild was selected from among Grundfos’ approximately 3,500 suppliers for this award for its commitment to quality, on-time delivery, innovation and collaboration. Fairchild previously won this award in 2009 and is only the second two-time winner.

“Besides Fairchild, only one other supplier has succeeded in winning the supplier award twice,” said Klavs Hornum, General Manager, CPO, Grundfos Corporate Purchase AG. “We have had a great history of cooperation with Fairchild in respect to sharing technical road maps, co-development, testing and global production support. They have been always a very reliable, responsive and trustworthy partner with excellent delivery and quality performance. Fairchild has helped Grundfos find the right solutions for our applications which are not only efficient and reliable, but also energy efficient.”

“Our primary goal at Fairchild is to make our customers’ products better, and being awarded ‘Supplier of the Year’ for the second time by Grundfos is a tremendous recognition of that commitment,” said Chris Allexandre, Fairchild’s Senior Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing, Business Operations & Planning. “This award also recognizes and validates our long-standing, close relationship with industry-best Grundfos, who manufactures and sells worldwide, and ultimately demonstrates how we are committed to collaborating with and supporting our customers on a global scale.”

“Our European team has worked closely with Grundfos over the years to ensure that our innovative and efficient devices enable their engineers to produce differentiated pumps with industry-leading performance, efficiency and reliability,” said Fairchild’s Andreas Hammer, Regional Vice President, EMEA. “Winning this award is a testament to the hard work of everyone on our team and of our dedication to our customers.”

Like Fairchild, Grundfos is committed to maximizing the efficiency of its products and is working with Fairchild to add intelligence into its pumps to reduce power consumption. Fairchild’s highly integrated SPM® smart power module solutions are used in Grundfos’ circulation pumps to comply with the European Union’s energy-using products (EuP) directive.

Fairchild’s highly integrated SPM modules offer optimum performance for inverter applications such as low power circulation pumps, air-conditioning and other white goods. These solutions integrate critical power management silicon components to help reduce board space and heatsink sizes, resulting in a compact, all-in-one solution for high-voltage designs.
