Eyeing TPP, Vietnam’s Apparel Industry Gears up for the First Denim Show on June 16 and 17

Denimsandjeans.com brings out its maiden show in Vietnam on 16th and 17th June at Gem Center, Ho Chi Minh City to focus on the denim and sportswear industry. It will bring some of the most reputed local fabric and apparel manufacturers, international mills, chemical and accessory suppliers in the supply chain together at one place. This event will serve as a platform for the denim and sportswear supply chain in this region.
Vietnam is the second-largest exporter of apparel and footwear to the U.S., just behind China. Many textile and garment companies in the region have already begun to move production to Vietnam. Major U.S. retailers such as Sara Lee, JC Penney, Express, The Gap, Macy’s, Nordstrom’s, Mast Industries and American Eagle source a sizeable portion of their imports from Vietnam.
The much-awaited TPP between USA and Vietnam will benefit USA as well. 54% of total U.S.A textiles and apparel exports went to TPP Markets in 2014. As a result of TPP, Vietnam will eliminate import taxes on 98.4% of USA textiles and apparel exports immediately and 100% within 4 years.
Denimsandjeans focuses on increasing denim exports from this region as it becomes a more important part of apparel exports from Vietnam. The show will also organize a series of seminars, panel discussions, and presentations. Internationally recognized denim expert Mr. Giovanni Petrin will hold a seminar titled ‘Blues Revolution’ and Jeanologia, the leading textile technology company, will hold a conference titled – Vietnam Horizon 2020, A View to the Future. An interesting documentary made especially for this show by Fabio and Christian – denim nerds from Italy will also be screened.
