Baron & Budd Investigating Potential Lawsuits Regarding RoundUp Weed Killer

January 25, 2016 | By Business Wire News

DALLAS

The national law firm of Baron & Budd is investigating potential legal action against Monsanto Co., the maker of the weed killer RoundUp. The product has been linked to an increased risk of several forms of cancer in farm workers and others who have been exposed to the herbicide. These include follicular lymphoma, b-cell lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and several others.

According to a recent Reuters news article, many people across the country are considering taking legal action against Monsanto, claiming that RoundUp has led to the development of cancer in either themselves or their loved ones. They claim that Monsanto has long been aware of the fact that glyphosate, the main ingredient in the weed killer, posed a risk to human health. In March, the World Health Organization declared that enough evidence existed to classify glyphosate as a probable carcinogen.

Reuters reported that RoundUp generated nearly $5 billion in revenue for Monsanto during its 2015 fiscal year. The company, according to the article, denies that glyphosate is a carcinogen and states it is one of the safest pesticides available. However, farm workers throughout the nation are claiming otherwise, saying that they have become ill after being exposed to the herbicide.

“We believe there is a great deal of evidence that suggests Monsanto was clearly aware of the hazards presented by glyphosate,” said environmental attorney Thomas Sims of Baron & Budd. “Whenever a corporation introduces a harmful product to the public, it must be held responsible for any illnesses that product causes.”

If you are either a farm worker who was exposed to RoundUp and were diagnosed with cancer, or you live near a farm or another area where the herbicide was used on a regular basis and you developed the disease, please contact Baron & Budd as soon as possible.
