Axalta Hosts Kick-off Event to Welcome Award-Winning Students from Mexico for U.S. Internship in Michigan

What: Axalta Coating Systems, a leading global supplier of liquid and powder coatings, will host an event at its Mt. Clemens manufacturing plant to welcome two college students from Mexico as they embark upon a two-week internship.
Students Victor Arellanes and Juan Carlos Zárate are the winners of the inaugural Axalta Mexico Science Award from the 2014 State of Mexico’s Science and Engineering Fair, sponsored by the Science and Technology Council of Mexico (COMECyT). They are recognized for their project titled, Recycled PET-based Pavement which uncovered a technique to convert materials composed of PET, such as water and soft drink bottles, into bricks that could be used for indoor or outdoor flooring and pavement.
During their internship, they will work alongside Axalta researchers in Michigan and take part in the investigation of rheological agents that interact with automotive coatings.
