Aurora Solar Technologies and h.a.l.m. elektronik Announce Strategic Partnership

July 7, 2015 | By Marketwired News

FRANKFURT, GERMANY and NORTH VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwired – July 7, 2015) – Aurora Solar Technologies Inc. (“Aurora“) (TSX VENTURE:ACU), a leader in inline measurement and control technology for the photovoltaic manufacturing industry, and h.a.l.m. elektronik GmbH (“h.a.l.m.“), the world leader in solar cell performance measuring systems for production lines, announce that they have entered into a strategic partnership to provide solar cell manufacturers with an integrated quality control solution to maximize yield and profitability of high-efficiency cell fabrication.

With the Decima™ and Veritas™ products, Aurora provides solar cell manufacturers with the most accurate and repeatable products to characterize and control the emitter formation process. This is the most important process step in determining solar cell efficiency. With the cetisPV product line, h.a.l.m. delivers the industry’s most trusted and capable means to precisely measure solar cell efficiency at the end of the production line. In this partnership, h.a.l.m. and Aurora will leverage their respective products and know-how to develop integrated solutions that directly connect emitter formation performance to final cell classification. The objective of this initiative is to markedly reduce the costly and excessively wide spread of final product quality classes that are common in the solar cell manufacturing industry.

“h.a.l.m. is the dominant cell performance measurement provider in Asia, with over 700 installations in China alone. Our company is committed to the PV industry and we have chosen to align developments with Aurora because the combination will provide overwhelming benefits for our customers,” said Dr. Axel Metz, h.a.l.m.’s Managing Director. He went on to say, “Aurora’s excellence in inline measurement of critical upstream emitter parameters and their clear vision for optimizing manufacturing profitability is a perfect match for h.a.l.m.’s technology that characterizes final product performance and binning distribution.”

“We are very pleased to have entered into this strategic relationship with h.a.l.m., who is consistently at the forefront of advanced metrology for high quality solar cell manufacturing. The partnership leverages our collective developments and compounds our ability to generate quantifiable results for PV cell manufacturers by tightening bin distribution and improving overall cell efficiencies,” said Greg Ayres, Aurora’s Chief Operating Officer.
