LOUISVILLE, Colo.

The Design Automation Conference (DAC), the premier conference devoted to electronic design and design automation, has named the members of the 53rd DAC Executive Committee. The Executive Committee (EC) oversees the exhibition and trade show, plans the technical program, establishes new initiatives, and manages conference operations and publicity. The 53rd DAC will be held at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas from June 5-9, 2016.

Chuck Alpert, will serve as the general chair for the 53rd DAC. He received B.S. and B.A. degrees from Stanford University in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA in 1996. He then spent 17 years working at IBM Research in Austin, developing internal EDA tools. He currently serves as a Group Director for Cadence’s Digital Signoff Group, working in the place and route space. Chuck has published over 100 conference and journal papers and is an IEEE Fellow. He has served on the DAC Executive Committee for over four years, first as panel chair in 2012, then as the technical program co-chair from 2013 – 2014, and then as the vice-chair in 2015. During that time Chuck also served on various EC sub-committees of the Strategy Committee and the Technical Program Committee helping with planning and implementation of the show.

Chuck is joined on the EC by the following volunteers from across the semiconductor, automotive, embedded systems, intellectual property (IP) and electronic design automation (EDA) industries and from academia.

Kevin Lepine and Lee Wood of MP Associates, Inc., serve as conference manager and exhibits manager, respectively. In addition, the EC will be forming an Austin Local Committee to serve as an interface between DAC and the electronics community in Austin. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the DAC office at 303-530-4333 for more information.

“DAC is the ‘must attend’ event for the electronic design and design automation community. Over the years, DAC has been established as the meeting place for the electronic design community to discuss new research, new products, and new advancements. I am honored to take the helm for 2016 and work with the talented and dedicated individuals on the Executive Committee,” said Chuck Alpert, General Chair of the 53rd DAC Executive Committee. “This talented group of volunteers is committed to providing this year’s DAC attendee with an enhanced overall experience in Austin Texas.”

About DAC

The Design Automation Conference (DAC) is the premier event for the design and development of electronic circuits and systems and for electronic design automation (EDA) and silicon solutions. A diverse worldwide community representing more than 1,000 organizations attends each year: system designers and architects, logic and circuit designers, validation engineers, CAD managers, embedded software engineers, senior managers and executives, and researchers and academicians from leading universities. Technical sessions selected by a committee of electronic design experts offer information on recent developments and trends, management practices and new products, methodologies and technologies. A highlight of DAC is its exhibition and suite area, with approximately 200 of the leading and emerging EDA, embedded systems, silicon, intellectual property (IP), automotive electronics and design services providers. The conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDA Consortium), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and is supported by ACM’s Special Interest Group on Design.
