Cabildo (Government of Gran Canaria) Supports the Internationalization of Gran Canaria Firms in Swimwear Fashion Week

The Cabildo de Gran Canaria is lending its support to the internationalization of its designers in Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week, with the aim of making the textile industry an economic sector that creates employment on the Island. Therefore, in its eighth edition, it will, for the first time, host a major international trade mission.

Thus, the international fashion consultant Muriel Piaser will head up a delegation comprised of the purchasing managers of Lambert & Associates, an organization with forty years of experience in the luxury sector, with offices in Paris, Milan, London, Florence and New York, the fashion Company with headquarters in Paris, Lux & Bee, whose clients are department stores of London, New York and Milan.

Note of solidarity 

The Cabildo will act as a mediator between designers and the solidarity economy textile company Tabita, promoted by Cáritas Foundation, in which women at risk of social exclusion work as seamstresses for firms affiliated with the programme Moda Cálida and new designers, such as Aguas Azules, who this year will come to the show for the first time.

Consolidated and new talents 

The designers participating this  year are Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Gottex, Agua Bendita, Banana Moon, Livia de Mónaco, Miss Bikini, Holas Beachwear, Dolores Cortés, PS Swimwear, Dapresa e Hipertrófico, Antonio Sangoó, Pedro Palmas, Elena Rubio, Carlos San Juan, Maldito Sweet, Aurelia Gil, Arcadio Domínguez, Calima Swimear, Croissier Swimwear, González, Alida Domínguez.

As for children’s firms, It Child, Lady Bug’s Cris, Mimenina, El Barquito de Papel, Le Pettit Croissier and Le Petit Mariette will participate.

With regard to new talents appearing on the catwalk, these will be Féétéé, Como la trucha al trucho, Vevas, Eclipse Swimwear and Chela Clo, in addition to the children’s firms Save the sun and Aguas Azules in a strong bid for the emerging creators.

Notable models will be: Aída Artiles, Desiré Cordero, Joana Sanz, Marina Peñate, Axel Pons, Federico Dorcaz and José Lamuño, as well as Mireia La Lagunas, Miss World 2015.

The Ocean Market 

The event will also vibrate outside of the catwalk, as the Cabildo will start up the Ocean Market, a novel outdoor proposal aimed at the commercialization of the designs of 20 creators of fashion and accessories, from June 10th to 12th from 12 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Paseo de Meloneras.

Sponsorships and collaborations 

This edition has larger private investment by high-profile companies who have decided to join as sponsors of this now consolidated fashion show, who will contribute more than one hundred thousand euros.

Thus, along with Heineken, Redken, Fund Grube and Depilación Láser Canarias, joining this year are Mini, Havainas, Polysianes de Klorane and Café del Mar, as well as the collaboration of Televisión Española, which will broadcast the event live on channel 1 at the regional level, and recorded for its international channel.
