The on-line partial discharge techniques developed by Iris Power Engineering for motor and generator monitoring have been extended to provide cost-effective and reliable monitoring systems for metal-clad switchgear and bus. Once the sensors are installed, plant personnel perform periodic measurements during normal operation. The company provides a supporting field service to assist in the installation and calibration of systems and help reduce the cost of planned corrective action by identifying the sections of the switchgear or bus duct that are at risk. Trending of data and support with interpretation from Iris minimizes maintenance costs.
