Remote vibration analysis boosts predictive maintenance programs

National’s Remote Diagnostics provides a full-service predictive maintenance solution for vibration analysis. This Internet-based tool works in tandem with the company’s Vb series of vibration analysis equipment to create standardized reports by piece of equipment. These reports identify where problems reside and build a history, so that each month maintenance professionals can spot trends, review the findings and see where trouble is brewing. They load their prepared database file from their computer to the vibration analyzer. Then they collect data on the bearings points defined on the analyzer screen. Finally, users download the new data back into their computer and connect to National Remote Diagnostics via the Internet at www.vbseries.com. Test schedules can be provided weekly, monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly, to suit individual needs. Once the data file is transferred from the site, users can review, print and store the complete results of the analysis in 24 hours. Access is 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Premium motor line expands

Recently available from Emerson Motor Technologies is a line of NEMA premium motors, Digital Load Monitor (DLM), stainless washdown motor line and cooling tower duty motors. The DLM is a powerful monitoring device capable of accurately measuring load on electrical motors and warning of overload and underload conditions. It has the capacity to calculate actual shaft power by using software algorithms and discounting the motor losses. By measuring true shaft power, rather than current or input power, the DLM determines the working load exerted by the driven application on the motor. The paint-free washdown motor line resists water entry and rust, and can drain condensation. It offers extended life in high-humidity or wet environments, making it suitable for food, beverage or chemical processing plants.

Software package enhances portable vibration analysis equipment

National has expanded its portable Vb series of vibration analysis equipment with its Ascent enhanced software. The cost-effective Vb series, manufactured in partnership with Commtest Instruments of New Zealand, is designed to be an integral part of a proactive maintenance program to ensure that machinery runs safely and efficiently between maintenance procedures. Key features of the Ascent software are: overall machine condition grading for easier spectrum analysis; spectral alarm bands and measurement setup are automatically generated based on ISO standards of The Proven Method from Technical Associates; simple-to-set and -view custom alarms; easy-to-visualize and -analyze run-up/coast-down tests; customizable screen views that allow users to combine charts and trends; and advanced time waveform analysis tools. Other features include single-click export to Microsoft Word, powerful 3D plots to view trends, dynamic balancing and portable printing in seconds of spectra and balancing reports.
