The M15 modular magnetic encoder from Timken is built to perform in dirty environments and will not fail due to debris interference. Applications include stepper-motor positioning and anti-stall feedback, DC brush-type motor positioning, and brushless DC and servo motor control. The unit’s core operating module is the MPS 160 encoder application-specific integrated circuit. Featuring a low profile of 17 mm (0.68 in.), this compact encoder is 41 mm (1.6 in.) in diameter and uses industry-standard mounting patterns of 32.5 mm or 46 mm (1.28 in. or 1.81 in.). It fits numerous shaft sizes, making it a convenient, drop-in replacement for more complex optical designs.
