Hydro One prepares for power outages caused by high winds

April 30, 2021 | By Maryam Farag

Hydro One provided some tips on how to prepare for potential power outages caused by high winds and gusts of up to 80 kilometre per hour with heavy rain in southern, central and parts of northern Ontario.

The company was urging customers to prepare by restocking family emergency kits and signing up in advance for outage alerts to stay up to date on power outage information.

Based on the company’s outage prediction tool, Hydro One crews are ready to assess damage and safely restore power to customers.

With heavy rain forecasted, Hydro One is also reminding customers to prepare for the potential risk of localized flooding. If flooding occurs, customers are encouraged to contact Hydro One’s emergency hotline at 1-800-434-1235 so crews can safely disconnect power.
