Texas Sees $15.5 Billion in Construction Projects in Q2 2015

CHICAGO

In the second quarter of 2015, more than 3,400 construction projects worth nearly $15.5 billion were actively bidding in the state of Texas.

According to the BidClerk Construction Index (BCI), a quarterly report from BidClerk, a leading provider of construction project data, the number of actively bidding private projects in Texas increased by 19 percent in the second quarter compared to the same time period in 2014. More than 700 private and over 2,700 public projects were recorded throughout the state. Areas in the report included Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas.

Texas high profile projects out for bid in the second quarter were:

  • George Bush International Airport
    • Construction of a $142 million airport terminal and hangar in Houston
    • Manhattan Construction, construction manager, and PGAL Architects, architect
  • Harmony Hill
    • Construction of a $70 million, 262,838-square-foot multifamily development in Rowlett, Texas
    • Jordan Foster Construction, general contractor, and JHP Architecture, architect

Nationally, BidClerk reported on more than 75,000 new projects valued at over $188 billion in the second quarter of 2015. According to BCI data from the second quarter of 2014, there were nearly 60,000 projects with an estimated value of $148 billion.
