Replacement chain saves over $23,000

Problem: A steel plant was using standard roller chain on the main drive of its steel polishing machine. The application is very demanding due to tiny metal shavings creating an abrasive environment. As a result, the chain needed to be replaced every four to five months.

Solution: The plant replaced the chain with Renold Synergy, which lasted nearly two years before needing to be replaced – over four times longer than the previous chain. The estimated cost savings on downtime and maintenance for the plant was $23,500 per year.
