Cole Hersee has introduced the Smart Battery Isolator models 48525 and 48530, available in 85-A and 200-A versions, which prevent loads on the auxiliary battery from draining the starting battery. This small, lightweight device is not specific to an alternator type and generates little heat. It reduces charging system workload by not connecting to the auxiliary battery until the primary battery is charged to 13.2 V. No diode efficiency losses occur, and the isolator allows bi-directional charging from alternator or from other power chargers/converters. Easy to install, it features an LED status indicator and operational start assist.
