Vocational Guidance Services Selects NGC’s Shop Floor Control To Manage Sewing Facility

September 15, 2015 | By Business Wire News

MIAMI

NGC Software today announced that Vocational Guidance Services (VGS), a private, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) vocational rehabilitation agency with 125 years of experience serving individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment, is implementing NGC’s Shop Floor Control system in its Cleveland sewing facility. NGC’s Shop Floor Control provides companies with real-time labor and production reporting throughout their manufacturing facilities.

The Cleveland-based organization provides a comprehensive range of vocational rehabilitation services including job training, transitional employment, job placement services, and paid work opportunities to nearly 4,500 individuals with physical disabilities, mental disabilities, a history of incarceration or other barriers to employment—such as economic challenges—every year. At the sewing facility, VGS employs approximately 70 individuals with significant disabilities to produce 100% of the women’s dress slacks for the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps.

NGC’s Shop Floor Control software will allow the organization, which found its roots in sewing projects in 1890, to effectively track labor, production and payroll, along with work in process and develop detailed management reports. Shop Floor Control is a proven global solution to help reduce plant costs and increase operating efficiencies.

“VGS has a long history of helping those in need build career skills and providing them with employment,” said Mark Burstein, president of sales, marketing and product development, NGC. “NGC’s software will help VGS continue to serve individuals with barriers to employment and produce apparel for the U.S. Military.”
