Venus Matters to Prevent Annoying Menstrual Clean-up With Waterproof Bed Mats

By PRN NewsWire

NEW YORK, April 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — “Out, out damn spot!” will be a thing of the past for menstruating women if a new start-up has its way. Venus Matters, based out of NYC and Boulder, Co., offers colorful, waterproof and washable mats designed to stop the potential crime-scene of sleeping while menstruating. The start-up currently pre-sells cotton-covered Venus Mats on its Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign though April 19(th) and is more than 30% towards its goal.

“In the 21(st) Century, women deserve more than old towels or hospital pads to help handle excess bleeding or catch the occasional menstrual leak in bed,” said Jules Cazedessus, Venus Matters Founder. “We want to give more respect, beauty and comfort to women during menstruation and beyond and, since there was nothing like the Venus Mat on the market –though 54% of the US population menstruate every month– we decided to address this under-cover need.”

Menstruation appears to be having a heyday as numerous entrepreneurs and activists work to help “end the curse” by providing feminine hygiene products to young girls who can’t afford them or finding humorous ways of talking about– and marketing to–the needs of female biology. There are now dozens of companies selling cloth menstrual pads, leak-proof “period panties,” period-starter kits and silicon menstrual cups. Venus Matters is the first company to take on troublesome stains on the sheets with these absorbent, waterproof and washable mats designed especially for women.

Venus Matters offers small and medium Venus Mats in six different patterns, such as Butterflies, Bedazzle, Her Majesty and Wild. The Venus Mat will be manufactured in Denver, CO., and the company promises to give 10% of net profits to supporting women’s reproductive health internationally. Early bird prices are currently available starting at $40 on the Venus Matters crowd-funding campaign through April 19(th) at:
