Triton Systems Inc., a business development company, announces it has hired Dr. Jack Salerno as its new Executive Vice President. In this role, he will be responsible for accelerating commercialization of technology developed by the company.

Salerno has thirty years of experience managing and growing start-up and small businesses – with a focus on developing and transitioning emerging technology into successful commercial products – while leveraging non-dilutive financing.

“We see significant opportunities for commercializing our pipeline of new technologies in 2016, including sensing devices, advanced material systems, and next generation micro-electro-mechanical systems,” said Ross Haghighat, President and CEO of Triton. “In anticipation of upcoming growth across our product platforms, we are pleased to welcome Jack, a leader well regarded in the industry and who has extensive experience in technical product commercialization, and who can ambitiously pursue new opportunities for the company.”

“I’m excited to join such an innovative team with demonstrated experience in creating successful businesses from incubated technologies,” said Jack. “I look forward to working with the Triton team to drive this business model.

Prior to joining Triton, Jack was President, interim CEO, and Director of Agiltron Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of optical and photonic components and systems for communications, sensing and instrumentation.

Jack was a founding employee and Vice President of Kopin Corporation where he established one of the first compound semiconductor epitaxial wafer businesses, specializing in hetero-junction materials now used in nearly all mobile devices, and also pioneered micro-display technology. He has held executive roles in several start-up technology companies, including optical component manufacturers ColorLink (acquired by RealD) and NZ Applied Technologies (acquired by Corning). He is also the inventor on more than 30 U.S. patents and is experienced in establishing strong intellectual property positions for emerging companies.

Dr. Salerno holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from M.I.T. with a minor in Management, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, and a B.A. in Physics and Mathematics from Ohio Wesleyan University. He previously served on the Technical Council of the United States Display Consortium, Chairman of the Compound Semiconductor Standards Committee of the SEMI industry Association and recently as a board member of the Smaller Business Association of New England and is co-chair of its Technology and Innovation Committee.
