Thompson Hine Elects Eight New Partners

Thompson Hine LLP has elected eight lawyers to the firm’s partnership effective January 1, 2016. The new partners, located across five of the firm’s offices, represent a broad range of practice areas including Business Litigation; Business Restructuring, Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy; Corporate Transactions & Securities; Environmental; Government Contracts; Intellectual Property; and Labor & Employment.

The new partners are:
Devin A. Barry, a member of the Environmental practice group in Cleveland, focuses on environmental counseling in business, regulatory and legislative matters; environmental enforcement actions; and compliance with environmental regulations. His specific areas of concentration include Superfund matters; air and water pollution control issues; compliance counseling for hazardous waste; toxic torts; land use matters; and federal, state and local permits and licenses. Barry received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 2006 and his B.S. from Miami University in 2003.
Tony J. Hornbach, a member of the Business Litigation practice group in Cincinnati, focuses on assessing clients’ litigation risks, evaluating their potential claims, managing their disputes prior to litigation, and representing them in lawsuits or arbitrations once they are engaged in litigation. He has significant experience representing clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation, construction litigation, and various types of labor and employment litigation. He is also experienced in areas of landlord-tenant, intellectual property, trade secret and professional malpractice litigation and represents clients in arbitrations across the country. Hornbach was selected for inclusion in Rising Stars by Ohio Super Lawyers® in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in 2007 and his B.S., summa cum laude, from Butler University in 2004.
John B. Kopf, III, a member of the Business Litigation practice group in Columbus, represents clients in civil and construction matters in state and federal trial courts, state and federal appellate courts, bankruptcy courts, mediations and arbitrations. He has complex civil, receivership, multidistrict litigation, mass tort and class action experience. He has argued in the Supreme Court of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and in 11 of Ohio’s 12 District Courts of Appeal. He also has advocated for clients before the Ohio Court of Claims, the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, the Ohio Department of Commerce, and before various zoning boards and political subdivisions. Kopf received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Capital University Law School and his B.A. from The Ohio State University.
Art Licygiewicz, a member of the Intellectual Property practice group in Cleveland, focuses on all aspects of intellectual property litigation, enforcement and counseling. He is an experienced litigator concentrating on patent, trademark and trade secret matters in U.S. District Court and the International Trade Commission. He also has considerable experience in licensing and intellectual property transactions, especially in connection with mergers and acquisitions, and the preparation and negotiation of agreements involving intellectual property rights. His experience encompasses matters concerning electrical, mechanical and computer-related technologies, including liquid crystal displays, semiconductor circuitry and packaging, semiconductor manufacturing, computer networking, wireless communications, software, internet systems and protocols, error correction algorithms, encryption, consumer electronics, optics, sensors, oil and gas exploration equipment, automotive parts and systems, control systems and window systems. He also has experience with chemical and plastics manufacturing polymers and other technologies. Licygiewicz received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law in 1997 and his B.S. from the University of Notre Dame in 1993.
Heather M. Muzumdar, a member of the Labor & Employment practice group in Cincinnati, counsels private and publicly traded companies, ranging from startup businesses to large public companies, on a broad array of labor and employment matters. She provides guidance on best practices, develops policies and procedures, and provides training on compliance with federal and state laws and a wide array of employment issues. She advises on all types of employment agreements, federal and state wage and hour, discrimination and leave law compliance, and conducts proactive employment practices audits. In addition, she represents clients in employment litigation, non-compete and trade secret litigation, and in federal and state agency investigations and audits. Muzumdar has been selected for inclusion in Rising Stars by Ohio Super Lawyers from 2012 to 2016. Garrett A. Nail, a member of the Business Restructuring, Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy practice group in Atlanta, handles a variety of bankruptcy matters, including representing secured and unsecured creditors, lenders, Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 debtors, asset purchasers and parties to adversary proceedings. He also has represented clients in civil litigation matters, including tort, contract and receivership cases. Nail has been selected for inclusion in Rising Stars by Georgia Super Lawyers from 2014 through 2016 and is a member of the 2013 class of NCBJ Next Generation. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law in 2007 and his B.B.A. from the University of Georgia in 2002.
Todd M. Schild, a member of the Corporate Transactions & Securities practice group in Cincinnati, counsels clients in connection with a wide range of domestic and international commercial and transactional matters, including acquisitions and dispositions of businesses and business lines, entity organization and governance, issues relating to the ownership and management of closely held businesses, and commercial agreements. Gunjan R. Talati, a member of the Government Contracts practice group in Washington, D.C., counsels and represents contractors in sectors including aerospace and defense, health care and information technology. He advises on Federal Acquisition Regulations compliance, small business issues, General Services Administration and Federal Supply Schedule matters, and ethics and compliance requirements. He represents contractors in suspension and debarment proceedings and bid protests before a variety of federal agencies and courts.
