SAN JOSE, Calif.
SurfaceInk, the leading provider of consumer device engineering and product development services since 1999, announced today that it has acquired GPiO, a privately held venture-backed company that helps expedite hardware engineering component decision-making processes to accelerate bringing consumer electronics products to market.
SurfaceInk, whose portfolio includes more than 400 shipped client products in the consumer electronics, medical device, and industrial markets, plans to use GPiO’s component data as a resource for its new and existing clients. Over the last year, GPiO has released objective comparisons on some of the newest as well as most commonly used MEMS microphones and battery charger IC’s on the market; two component families that have widespread use in the growing wearable and IoT spaces.
“SurfaceInk has an amazing reputation and portfolio and we are excited to be part of the company’s continued success,” said Sagar Savant, founder and CEO of GPiO, who will be joining SurfaceInk’s engineering team.
“Component selection is a critical element in the architecture phase for any product development process,” said Eric Bauswell, CEO, SurfaceInk. “Our clients will immediately benefit from the extended engineering services we gain with this acquisition. Strategically we can accelerate predictability and bring products to market with more cadence.”
