Dr. Kesh Keshavan has been named Director of Development for SuperMetalix, Inc. (www.supermetalix.com), it was announced today by Jack Kavanaugh, Chairman of SuperMetalix, Inc. and Dr. Richard Kaner, Chairman of the SuperMetalix Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Keshavan, who holds two hundred patents and is the recipient of “Most Cited Author; The Institute for Scientific Information,” has joined SuperMetalix, Inc. in a lead executive role and will head SuperMetalix, Inc.’s research team in its development of the world’s hardest metals for use in oil and gas drilling, construction, aerospace and defense and other applications.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Keshavan join SuperMetalix as Director of Development. His decades of experience as a senior executive and scientist with Smith Toll and Schlumberger will be invaluable to SuperMetalix as it develops super-hard metals for multiple applications in the oil, drilling and industrial fields,” said Jack Kavanaugh.
Dr. Keshavan added, “I am delighted to be working with the SuperMetalix team. For the past thirty-five years, I’ve been actively involved in the development of hard and super-hard materials and especially intrigued by the gap between carbide and diamond. SuperMetalix has a promising new material system capable of filling that divide and successfully meet the demand for this type of material. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences in the oil and gas sector and identifying appropriate partners and applications for these new materials,” said Keshavan.
For the last five years, Dr. Keshavan served as the Technology Advisor for Schlumberger’s Drilling Group in Houston, Texas. Previously he served as Vice President for the Advanced Materials Group at SII Mega Diamond in Provo, Utah and Vice President of their Technology Research Group in Houston, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Bangalore University, a B.S. in Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Science, and a Masters and PhD in Materials Science from the University of Kentucky. He currently holds over 210 patents and pending applications.
SuperMetalix, Inc. (www.supermetalix.com) was founded by Jack Kavanaugh and Dr. Richard Kaner. The company holds exclusive licenses from UCLA on super-hard metals developed at Dr. Kaner’s laboratories at UCLA. SuperMetalix, Inc. is poised to revolutionize the market by producing cost-efficient super-hard materials and directly impact a wide range of industrial and commercial applications, from drilling and cutting tools to abrasives and scratch resistant coatings. SuperMetalix metals are hard enough to scratch diamonds and are multiple in hardness compared to carbide.
Jack Kavanaugh was the founder, former Chairman and CEO of ZetaRx, which was acquired by and became the core of Juno Therapeutics, and attained a market cap in excess of $5 billion. He was also an early investor and Board member in Materia and correctly predicted that Dr. Bob Grubbs, developer of its technology, would receive the Nobel Prize in chemistry for that technology.
