SAN JOSE, Calif.
Stion Corporation, a leading US-based manufacturer of high efficiency thin-film solar modules and developer of turnkey photovoltaic solar solutions, announced today that it has completed a 228 Kilowatt (kW) commercial rooftop solar project at U.S. Continental Marketing, Inc., a leading vertically integrated provider of quality leather and fabric care products based in Corona, California.
Stion Energy Services, the project development arm of Stion Corporation, was selected by the U.S. Continental Marketing to provide a turn-key solution for the project which was successfully commissioned at the end of December 2014. The solar installation will offset a significant portion of the electricity used by the company for their manufacturing operations, and represents another commitment of the adoption of solar power by commercial customers.
“U.S. Continental believes that using solar power is both cost efficient and a testament to using best practices for our ISO 9001 and 14001 compliant operations,” said David Williams, CEO of U.S. Continental Marketing. ”After evaluating the different technology options available to us, we recognized that the Stion solution provided us with the highest Kilowatt hour (kWh) performance and the best overall value for our company.”
Stion’s rooftop solar system, powered by 1,690 Stion high-performance thin-film modules, will generate approximately 390,000 kWh of electricity per year. “This Stion rooftop system, which is one of the largest commercial solar systems in the City of Corona, will produce the highest energy yield for a solar system located in the immediate vicinity,” commented Kevin Mackamul, Sr. Director of Engineering for Stion.
“The solar installation, which was completely permitted and installed in less than 5 months, will help to stabilize growing energy costs and the resulting savings benefits are an important component of our efforts to improve operational efficiencies,” added Steve Toloday, CFO of U.S. Continental Marketing.
