Smiths Detection Inc. Announces $23M Chemical Detector Order from the U.S. Army

EDGEWOOD, Md.

Smiths Detection Inc. today announced that the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground, in support of the Joint Chemical Agent Detector (JCAD) program, exercised an option for a $23 million production order on an existing contract.

Smiths Detection Inc.’s JCAD is an advanced, easy-to-use, lightweight threat detection device that can be held or easily strapped to a belt. The JCAD protects military personnel, police and hazmat responders by alerting operators if toxic substances and dangerous chemicals are detected.
