Sensity Systems Announces the NetSense Core Node EX for Simplifying City-Wide Light Sensory Network Deployments

May 4, 2015 | By Business Wire News

NEW YORK

(LIGHTFAIR International) – Sensity Systems, the pioneer of Light Sensory Networks (LSN), today announced its new NetSense Core Node EX. The Core Node EX provides greater integration flexibility, with a smaller, sleeker hardware form-factor and support for an external NEMA receptacle connector (ANSI 136.41) to simplify deployment of NetSense nodes with LED roadway light fixtures. In addition, the integrated NEMA connector allows existing LED deployments to quickly and easily be retrofitted with the Core Node technology – creating a single, pervasive Light Sensory Network out of existing and new LED fixtures.

The new Core Node EX is ideal for lighting manufacturers that are interested in providing both lighting control and advanced applications and services, such as public safety and security, smart parking, traffic, and more on their existing luminaires without developing new software or hardware. The new Core Node EX provides advanced lighting control capabilities and also collects sensor information, such as ambient light, motion detection, temperature, and power monitoring. Tapping into its technology expertise, process integration know-how, and strong partnerships, Sensity designed the new core node to be low-cost, lightweight, and adaptable to be deployed alongside any third-party lighting fixture via a NEMA socket. As a result, NetSense Lighting Manufacturer Partners can quickly respond to, participate in, and meet the requirements of Smart City projects.

“We redesigned the original Core Node and added innovative new capabilities to truly accelerate Light Sensory Network deployments via our partners. We are simplifying LSN integration into any type of outdoor luminaire by providing the option to mount it externally using a global connector standard,” said Sean Harrington, SVP of Sales and Marketing at Sensity Systems. “The new Core Node EX is a demonstration of our commitment to making our partners worldwide successful by delivering products that not only add new capabilities, but also make it easier for any lighting manufacturer to install and leverage the platform.”

Available Today for U.S. and International Deployments

The Core Node EX’s newest functionality includes:

  • Mounted externally using a 7-Pin NEMA receptacle connector (ANSI 136.41) to control LED luminaires.
  • Built-in power to support the NetSense Video Node and other auxiliary devices, such as networking equipment.
  • Built-in communications bus to allow the Core Node to collect and transmit meta-data from attached auxiliary devices and additional sensors.
  • Global Positioning System (GPS) enabled for rapid and error-free commissioning and ongoing asset management.
  • Utility Grade Metering for energy savings and verification.

NetSense Partner Program – Lighting as the Internet of Things (IOT) Platform

The NetSense Partner Program is designed to make it easier and more cost-effective for companies to deliver global Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions. The program includes lighting manufacturer partners, commercial and industrial manufacturers, and service providers. Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO), the global leader in networking equipment and services, as well as Acuity Brands (NYSE: AYI), one of the world’s leading providers of LED lighting solutions for both indoor and outdoor applications, both recently announced strategic partnerships with Sensity under this program. Core Node Demonstration at LIGHTFAIR – May 5-7 – Sensity Booth #3057

Throughout its LIGHTFAIR booth, Sensity will showcase joint partner solutions that leverage its NetSense platform as a foundational element. Application-specific demonstrations include “Security Without Surveillance,” “Smart+Connected Cities,” “Smart Parking Management” and more. Demonstrations incorporate video streaming and embedded video analytics, such as object detection and forbidden zone identification. Live demonstrations will show parking and traffic analytics and the capabilities of NetSense-enabled luminaires to improve security and operational efficiency for malls, cities and parking areas. The new NetSense Core Node EX will also be shown.
