Liberty Diversified International (LDI) has named Mark S. Schumacher President and COO.

Schumacher has served as a member of LDI’s Advisory Board for five years as an external advisor while he was President of the Pressure/Temperature Business of manufacturing technology leader Emerson Process Management. As a result, he comes to family-owned LDI with an inside knowledge of the company’s operations, business units and customers.

LDI Chairman and CEO Mike Fiterman said, “Mark Schumacher brings a vast array of benefits to our leadership team, including his broad innovation prowess, his international sales and marketing experience, plus his intimate knowledge of LDI.”

Fiterman said that a critical factor in Schumacher’s hiring is his understanding of the roles of values and culture in successful operations, especially in family-owned companies.

“Mark has proven that he has the skills to lead LDI in our future growth and continued profitability, but in a manner that reflects commitments to our employees, customers and communities,” Fiterman said.

With Emerson, Schumacher was responsible for the firm’s pressure and temperature business and technologies. He held previous positions at Fisher Controls and Rosemount Inc., which became a business unit of Emerson.

A resident of Minneapolis, Schumacher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and has been awarded 27 patents.
