Saint-Gobain Introduces FKM White Laboratory Tubing

December 1, 2015 | By Business Wire News

AURORA, Ohio

Saint-Gobain, a global leader in high-performance components and solutions using engineered polymers, introduces FKM White laboratory tubing. Manufactured from one of the latest specialty types of fluoroelastomer with advanced polymer architecture, the new tubing is suitable for demanding applications and has excellent chemical resistance to acids, alcohols, fuel, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. It also shows superior fluid resistance to commercial cleaning fluids.

Compared to Viton® tubing, this flexible tubing with a durometer of 64 provides an extended pump life of up to 300hr at 0 psi, thus reducing downtime. Opaque white in color, Saint-Gobain FKM White can be used in pharmaceutical and laboratory environments where the use of traditional Viton tubing containing carbon black is unacceptable.

Saint-Gobain FKM White withstands operating temperatures between -25°F (-32°C) and 400°F (204°C) and has outstanding resistance to ozone and weathering which prevents premature cracking or aging. The new tubing is autoclavable by steam 30 minutes at 15 psi at 250°F (121°C) and has good chemical resistance to 5% sodium hydroxide, making it suitable for CIP (Clean-In-Place) for pharmaceutical applications. Saint-Gobain FKM White meets USP Class VI per GLP and FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 for food contact requirements. It is available in six standard stock sizes.

Viton is a registered trademark of DuPont Performance Elastomers LLC.
