After advancing through three increasingly demanding rounds of challenging written and hands-on tests, eight finalists competed in the Top Tech final competition held at the Mack Customer Center in Allentown, Pa. The competition consisted of 10 rigorous hands-on skill tests, including vehicle electronics, preventive maintenance, and air conditioning.

“I am continually impressed by our technicians and their commitment to ensuring that repairs get done right the first time,” said Ryder Chairman and CEO Robert Sanchez. “Ryder’s Top Tech Competition is a testament to the value we place on our technicians, and the Corvette is a symbol of the appreciation we have for them. They truly are the backbone of our business.”

All of the finalists’ hard work also translated into well-earned fun and relaxation in the days leading up to the competition final. The top eight enjoyed a four-day stay with a guest at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pa., sightseeing tours through New York City and Philadelphia, and engaging team events.

“Ryder’s network of technicians stands at the core of our service offerings,” said Ryder President of Global Fleet Management Solutions Dennis Cooke. “For that reason, we focus on investing in them and honoring their constant hard work and dedication through programs like Top Tech.”

The Corvette Stingray 3LT includes a 6.2 Liter V8 engine with 460 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. It comes equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, 10-speaker Bose surround sound, a performance data recorder, Chevrolet MyLink Radio with Navigation, and OnStar with 4G LTE and a mobile built-in WiFi hotspot.

All eight finalists received cash prizes for their exemplary performance, and as a result of their success in the Company’s internal recognition program, they, as well as 2014’s Ryder Top Tech winner Frederick J. Morra, will represent Team Ryder at the 2015 TMC SuperTech National Technician Skills Competition. The team of nine will compete against the industry’s best technicians, beginning September 21, in Orlando, Fla.
