Research and Markets: Global Nitrogenous Fertilizer Market to Grow at a CAGR of 1.99% in Terms of Revenue and 1.60% in Terms of Volume over the Period 2014-2019

By Business Wire News

Research and Markets ( has announced the addition of the “Global Nitrogenous Fertilizer Market 2015-2019” report to their offering.

A large number of countries worldwide are directing efforts to achieve self-sufficiency. The US, Brazil, and Vietnam, in particular, are taking significant steps to improve self-sufficiency in terms of certain nitrogenous fertilizers. For instance, the US is a major importer of urea, particularly from the Middle East, with 72% of its demands satisfied by imports in 2013. However, heavy investment in new fertilizer plants could make the US self-sufficient. This is supported by factors such as lower natural gas costs, owing to the shale gas revolution; the easy availability of natural gas; and the expansion of nitrogen production capacity. Countries are trying to reduce their dependence on exports and reap the benefits of converting low-cost raw materials to high-value end products themselves.

According to the report, the growing population worldwide is leading to a higher demand for food. Disposable incomes in developing countries such as India and China are also on the rise, resulting in the growth of the per capita consumption of agricultural products. Dietary changes that include an increased consumption of animal protein and dairy products, too, are dictating the amount of fertilizer needed, as more animals means that more grain needs to be grown to feed those animals. Many governments are implementing new policies to meet food security concerns and thus increase food productivity. Thus, the increase in crop production will fuel nutrient demand.
