Redefining Personal Mobility: GM CEO Mary Barra to Deliver CES 2016 Keynote

ARLINGTON, Va.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced that General Motors’ (GM) CEO Mary Barra will discuss how GM is redefining personal mobility during a keynote address at CES® 2016. Owned and produced by CEA, CES is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, and will run January 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Barra’s keynote is scheduled for 1 PM Wednesday, January 6 in the Westgate Las Vegas, Westgate Theater.

Barra has served as chief executive officer of GM since January 15, 2014. She is also a member of the GM Board of Directors. She began her career with GM in 1980 as a co-op student at the Pontiac Motor Division and has since held various roles within the company, including executive vice president of Global Product Development, Purchasing & Supply Chain, vice president of Global Human Resources, and vice president of Global Manufacturing Engineering. Under Barra’s leadership, GM is driving to become the global industry leader in automotive design and technology, product quality and safety, customer care and business results. In 2015, Barra was ranked first on Fortune magazine’s list of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business.”

Underscoring the growing intersection between consumer technology and the car, automotive exhibits at CES 2016 will see a 25 percent growth in show floor space over 2015. More than 100 automotive tech companies will unveil the latest innovations in driverless and in-car technologies across more than 200,000 net square feet of exhibit space. CES 2016 will also feature nine automotive manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), Ford, GM, Hyundai, Mercedes, Toyota and Volkswagen.

Barra joins an all-star lineup of CES 2016 keynote speakers, including Brian Krzanich, CEO, Intel Corp.; Dr. WP Hong, president and CMO, Samsung Electronics; Reed Hastings, CEO, Netflix and Robert Kyncl, chief business officer, YouTube.
