Priority Logistics Appoints Gene Edwards Chief Operating Officer

October 20, 2015 | By Business Wire News

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.

Priority Logistics, a leading North American freight management company, today announced the appointment of Gene Edwards to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately.

A 25-year supply chain veteran, Mr. Edwards will lead Priority’s growing family of operating businesses, which currently incudes Priority Logistics, Priority Consulting, IDC Traffic and Iron Horse Logistics. Mr. Edwards brings broad leadership capacity to Priority. Most recently the Director of Logistics for The Winebow Group, he has managed logistics and operations in the beverage and chemical industries as well as for the U.S. Army.

Edwards joins Stephen Wilson, who took over as President and Chief Executive Officer in June, in the company’s mission-driven effort to put fairness and value back in the transportation supply chain. “Every shipment involves hundreds of moving parts which gives middlemen hundreds of opportunities to nickel and dime an unsuspecting customer. We save our clients money because we treat their business like it is our own,” said Mr. Wilson. “Nobody embodies that philosophy more than Gene Edwards. He is not just dedicated to excellence, he is one of the most honorable, transparent and caring human beings I know.”

Mr. Edwards attributes his love and respect for the vital role of supply chain management to his experience in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, where proper care of people was as crucial as efficient management of equipment and resources. “You can’t achieve anything alone. Logistics, done well, is a collaboration, a partnership,” said Edwards. “We have each other’s back, and that just makes the whole operation stronger.”
