Praxair Canada Receives Approval for Sale of Noxivent™ Nitric Oxide

DANBURY, Conn.

Praxair, Inc. (NYSE:PX) announced today that its subsidiary, Praxair Canada Inc., has received approval for the sale of its Noxivent brand of inhaled nitric oxide in Canada. Additionally, earlier this year Praxair announced the acquisition of NOxBOX Ltd, a company that specializes in the manufacture of inhaled gas delivery and monitoring instruments for the medical market.

“With this approval from Health Canada, we will pair the Noxivent product with the NOxBOX_i™ delivery system, enabling us to provide our Canadian hospital customers with a comprehensive respiratory offering in a cost-effective manner,” said Sean Durbin, president Praxair Canada. “Our customers have been looking for choices in the marketplace and we are pleased to be able to deliver.”

Praxair Canada’s Noxivent inhalednitric oxide, in conjunction with ventilatory support and other appropriate agents, is indicated for the treatment of term and late pre-term (≥34 weeks) neonates with hypoxic respiratory failure associated with clinical or echocardiographic evidence of pulmonary hypertension, where it improves oxygenation and reduces the need for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Noxivent gas will be available for sale and use in Canada in 800 ppm and 100 ppm concentrations.
