Popularity of Touch Screens Will Be a Boon for the Global Touch Controller IC Market

June 8, 2015 | By Business Wire News

LONDON

Technavio, a tech-focused research firm, has published a new report on the global touch controller IC market, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16% from 2015-2019.

The latest Technavio report draws attention towards touch screens, which have become ubiquitous in many devices. Previously, only smartphones and tablets were introduced with touch-enabled screens, but now many electronic devices are embedded with touch screens.

“The increased demand for touch screen devices will prove fruitful for touch controller IC vendors, and we expect this to be a main factor propelling market growth in the near future,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of Technavio.

The new market research report by Technavio also emphasizes the emergence of flexible displays, which are expected to see adoption in a wide range of applications. Smartphones are likely to be the first to have flexible displays, followed by tablets and smartwatches. Apart from TVs, all other devices will be touch enabled, which will create demand for touch controller ICs.

“There are issues related to the encapsulation of flexible displays constraining mass production, but increasing R&D investments by vendors will reduce the impact of this issue, and make the technology feasible for consumers” says Ghaus.
