OLYMPIC Paints by PPG Honors Local Charity for Deployed Military and Veterans

December 15, 2015 | By Business Wire News

PITTSBURGH

OLYMPIC® Paints, a brand of PPG Architectural Coatings, presented Operation Troop Appreciation with a $25,000 gift this holiday season. Operation Troop Appreciation is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization that provides services and supplies to military service members and veterans.

Olympic Paints raised the donation dollars through the sale of Olympic ONE® interior paint. In November, the paint brand launched a Veteran’s Day campaign in which $1 for every gallon sold would be donated to a veteran’s charity.

“This gift will make a tremendous difference to our troops overseas and veterans who have returned home,” said Monica A. Orluk, president and chief operating officer, Operation Troop Appreciation. “We are grateful to have the support of Olympic Paints, which through this donation has helped us to provide much needed supplies and holiday gifts for military service members and veteran communities.”

A volunteer-based organization, Operation Troop Appreciation works to provide active and veteran members of the Armed Forces with items that contribute to their morale and well-being. The group organizes dozens of projects each year to send wish-list items to military units, such as clothing, sports equipment, music equipment, entertainment devices, tools, exercise gear and more. For every dollar donated to Operation Troop Appreciation, 98.5 cents go directly to deployed military or veterans.

Olympic Paints is thrilled to support Operation Troop Appreciation and the organization’s honorable mission of supporting our troops and veterans,” said Lia Gancas, senior brand manager, Olympic Paints and Stains. “This nonprofit is located right in our backyard and has supported hundreds of thousands of military service men and women in just 10 years of operation. It is a very deserving group to show our thanks and support.”
