Network Global Logistics, LLC (NGL), a leading innovator in third-party logistics services and solutions, today announced that the company has completed its acquisition of Medical Logistic Solutions (MLS), a leading national medical courier company, and that the logistics leader has hired healthcare industry veteran Kyle Schultz as Executive Vice President to manage the company’s strategy and programs across the medical and healthcare sectors. The acquisition was originally announced late last year.
“There is a significant need and opportunity for the healthcare industry to benefit from better logistics services and solutions,” says Schultz. “There is so much pressure on the industry to reduce costs without impacting patient care and providing the right tissue, specimen, plasma or organ at the right hospital at the right time at the right cost. The closing of the MLS deal puts the final touches on what is now the logistics industry’s most comprehensive medical logistics network in the country and we are already working with numerous hospitals and providers nationwide to improve patient outcomes, while at the same time decreasing costs.”
Traditional, or “normal” SLAs (Service Level Agreements) can range from a few hours to a couple of weeks. In medical logistics, these agreements are far more strict and urgent. The most stringent SLAs are what the industry calls “super-stat” – meaning that the need is immediate and critical and must be met from order to delivery within one hour. This includes the delivery of everything from drugs to live tissue. NGL has historically met these requirements with a 5-Star rating.
Beyond saving lives, the robust NGL network saves countless time and man-hours for its customers, essentially acting as a huge profit lever and providing an impact to the bottom line.
The company’s medical logistics network is comprised of a large multi-regional medical courier business focused on servicing the broad medical space, including pharmacies, hospital networks, clinical labs, blood banks, donor networks, doctors, veterinary services and other health organizations.
“It’s no longer just about life sciences on a regional level,” continues Schultz. “We are excited to partner with our customers by delivering the most integrated medical supply chain solution to leading organizations managing complex medical supply chains across the country.
The life sciences vertical is one of the fastest growing segments of NGL’s business. The addition of MLS’ routed courier services has enabled NGL to expand its service offering to its customer base.
“The acquisition and final closing of the MLS business created the need to improve our senior leadership team to best serve the important healthcare logistics business,” says Ray Garcia, Chairman and acting CEO. “Kyle brings a wealth of experience, ideas and enthusiasm that will allow us to create and deliver real value for our customers. It’s this value that will help propel our business going forward.”
