LOS ANGELES

The AMP1 team of amputee basketball players from all over the country gathered in Los Angeles this past weekend for the Nike 3on3 Tournament. Against the odds, the team won three exciting games against some tough competition and inspired the crowd of onlookers to “never give up!”

The Nike Basketball 3on3 Tournament has grown to become one of the largest street basketball tournaments and fan fests in Los Angeles and AMP1 fast became a crowd favorite.

With the help of high-tech prosthetics from their sponsor, Irvine, California based Freedom Innovations, the AMP1 players have overcome lower limb amputations (due to traumatic accidents, birth defects or cancer) to go on and compete against able-bodied, non-amputee teams in action-packed basketball games. AMP1 won three hotly contested games in the tournament, further building upon their incredible, against-the-odds reputation. AMP1’s message is one of sheer determination and hope for everyone, especially those who have lost a limb, dealt with physical challenges and anyone who has faced adversity or wants to change their lives.

AMP1 team members utilize Freedom Innovation’s Renegade Prosthetic Foot for its excellent vertical shock capabilities and comfort during these challenging games. The transformational amputee players also utilize the Plié Microprocessor Controlled Knee for its unmatched responsiveness and superior stability — including those tricky backwards movements required on the court.
