Jim Phillips, Chairman & CEO of NanoMech, said, “approximately 70% of our employees are University of Arkansas graduates. This relationship is important to the continued growth and success of our company, and NanoMech benefits from having access to the first class microscopy center based in the UA Engineering Nanoscale Institute.” He told the story of how NanoMech started with a folding table and two tremendous scientists located outside a public restroom in the Genesis Building, to today occupying over 50,000 square feet of manufacturing, laboratory and production facilities in the Company’s world headquarters in Springdale, and recent expansions of four divisions including Automotive in Detroit; Energy, in Houston; Aerospace in Dallas; and Transport, based in Fayetteville.

Dr. John English, Dean of College of Engineering, praised NanoMech for winning the most prestigious national innovation awards over the last year including the R&D 100 Award, the Edison Award, and the Tibbetts Award. “It is our great pleasure to be part of the public-private partnership with NanoMech,” commented English. “Mr. Phillips has assembled an outstanding Board of Directors, and led an investment round to move this terrific technology to the market used in manufacturing worldwide.”

Dr. Ajay Malshe, Chief Technology Officer, said, “From humble beginnings, that included outstanding support from the Dean of Engineering and The University of Arkansas, we have matured to serving many Fortune 500 companies globally with very advanced nanoscale solutions that are winning on the Indy Race tracks; operating undersea and on major rigs under extreme conditions in energy exploration and safety; helping aerospace build lightweight, fuel efficient jet engines; increasing performance for thousands of HD trucks across American highways; innovating super durable and very lightweight wheels and automotive components; increasing the reliability and life of engines while constantly improving manufacturing processes and dramatically reducing costs making America far more competitive.”
