MPR’s Bobby Ashworth, senior engineer, will deliver the opening remarks at the North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) Professional Development Workshop on May 23, 2016. This workshop is part of the kickoff for the 63rd annual Nuclear Energy Assembly (NEA) conference in Miami, Florida; an event hosted by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). NEA brings together hundreds of industry senior executives, NAYGN members, and policymakers from around the world. “MPR is pleased that a number of our employees actively participate in NAYGN,” MPR Principal Officer Robert Carritte said. “We think it is a great opportunity to foster certain aspects of their growth and development. We are especially proud of Bobby’s leadership to be recognized by industry peers and are looking forward to this opportunity for him to address the conference attendees.”

Since joining MPR in 2006, Mr. Ashworth has successfully completed many projects to support the nuclear power industry. He became an NAYGN member in 2004. He will complete his term as NAYGN President at next week’s NEA meeting. Originally serving on the Board of Directors as the Professional Development Chair and Vice President, Mr. Ashworth has held this current position for the past year. “NAYGN has provided me with an enriching experience both personally and professionally and I am happy to have had the opportunity to serve as NAYGN President,” Mr. Ashworth said. Mr. Ashworth will remain on the NAYGN board as the Past-President following the conference.

NEI promotes the beneficial uses of nuclear energy, America’s leading source of carbon-free electricity. NEI’s objective is to ensure the formation of policies that promote the beneficial uses of nuclear energy and technologies in the United States and around the world.

NAYGN is a professional society focused on providing professional development for its members and sharing public information about the benefits obtained from peaceful use of nuclear science and technology. NAYGN provides opportunities for a young generation of nuclear enthusiasts to develop leadership and professional skills, create life-long connections, engage and inform the public, and inspire today’s nuclear technology professionals to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
