Molex to Sponsor BattleBots® Team in Summer TV Series

June 22, 2016 | By Business Wire News

LISLE, Ill.

Molex has announced it will be a sponsor of Team Fast Electric Robots in season two of BattleBots®, a television series airing this summer on ABC. The team’s bot, “Splatter,” will do battle with others during the 10-episode run.

BattleBots is a new version of the “killer robot combat” sport from Whalerock Industries and the creators of the original BattleBots franchise, Ed Roski and Greg Munson. The homemade robots battle against each other in the single-elimination tournament until only one champion is left standing. The objective of each match is to destroy or completely disable the opponent’s robot.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Molex as a sponsor,” said Jeff Vasquez of Team Fast Electric Robots, which is based in Thousand Oaks, CA. “My wife, Debbie, our sons Matthew and Jason and I are a family team, and we are grateful to receive the support of Molex and our other sponsors, who are helping us make our robot a reality. We built Splatter in our garage, and we look forward to bringing it to the national stage.”

The BattleBots series features next-generation robots that are bigger, faster and stronger than ever before. The show emphasizes the design and build elements of each robot, the bot builder backstories, their pursuit of the championship and the excitement of battle.

As a sponsor, the Molex logo will be featured one time per episode in matches where Splatter is competing. The Molex logo will also appear on a team banner to be displayed in the “pit area” during competition. Molex will receive shout-outs on social media and there will be a link to the Molex website on the official BattleBots website.

“Molex is proud to be a sponsor of Team Fast Electric Robots,” said Mike Sewart, global digital marketing manager, Molex. “We’re delighted that all the teams are designing and building amazing bots, and we hope their experiences inspire viewers as well. As an industry, we need to recruit the next generation of engineers, and this is a great place to start. We’ll be cheering for the Vasquez family and Splatter to compete hard and hopefully win this exciting competition.”
