MOF Technologies Announces Formation of World Leading Scientific Advisory Board

MOF Technologies today announces the appointment of four leading experts to its newly formed Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

Professors Susumu Kitagawa (Kyoto University, Japan), Martin Schröder (University of Manchester, UK), Mike Zaworotko (University of Limerick, Ireland) and Dr Barry Murrer (ex-Johnson Matthey R&D Director) will make up the SAB with immediate effect. Each is a world-renowned expert in materials chemistry, all bringing considerable expertise and experience relevant to MOF Technologies’ core mission of developing and scaling up novel Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for use in a broad range of applications.

MOF Technologies CEO Dr Paschal McCloskey said: “With the key appointments of these world leading MOF experts to our Scientific Advisory Board, we look forward to drawing on their extensive expertise in the development and scale up of MOFs, as we focus on the commercialisation of our lead products during 2016 and beyond.”

Short biographies of the new members of the SAB follow:

Professor Susumu Kitagawa is currently Director of the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) at Kyoto University, an initiative launched by the Japanese Government in 2007. His current research interests, for which he has won numerous awards, are focused on the synthesis and properties of porous coordination polymers/metal-organic frameworks.

Professor Martin Schröder is Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and Professor of Chemistry. He is an expert in materials chemistry applied to energy research, and leads a programme of research in the development of porous metal organic frameworks (MOFs) for a variety of applications. He has published over 470 reviews, papers and patents and has won many awards for his research.

Professor Mike Zaworotko is the Bernal Chair of Crystal Engineering & Science Foundation of Ireland Research Professor at the University of Limerick, Ireland. Currently, his research interests focus on metal-organic materials (MOMs), especially microporous and ultramicroporous sorbents. He has a publication list of over 350 papers and patents.

Dr Barry Murrer is a distinguished industrial scientist having recently completed a 35-year career at the FTSE-100 company Johnson Matthey in the UK. During this period, he led the development and commercialisation of a range of technologies across the company’s portfolio, including novel catalysts, nanomaterials, sorbents and FDA-approved platinum-based drugs.
