MasterControl Debuts Informative Webinar Series on New, Imminent ISO 9001:2015 Standard

SALT LAKE CITY

MasterControl Inc., leading provider of quality management and compliance software solutions, has completed the final installment of a three-part webinar series focused on ISO International Standards, which stand to impact organizations across the globe.

The MasterControl webinar series “ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems” provides an overview of the ISO 9001:2015 standard that is estimated to be published in the third or fourth quarter of 2016. The webinar features ISO experts Walt Murray and Peter Knauer providing an outline and insights on the new standard. In less than 45 minutes both novices and experts will come away with a summary of what is ahead of them. Once it is published, companies will have three years to transition to the new standard, and Murray and Knauer encourage companies to start early to make sure they maintain compliance.

ISO 9001 is one of the standards in the family of ISO 9000 standards. A company that has been independently audited and certified to be in conformance with ISO 9000 standards may publicly state that it is “ISO Certified.” This certification documents that a company’s products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality.

The MasterControl webinar ISO 9001 series covers substantive changes in the new standard, which occur in sections four through 10, and MasterControl categorizes the 10 sections into the “Plan, Do, Check, Act” model.

The series zeros in on the “Leadership” section, which was previously labeled “Management.” Murray and Knauer emphasize, “An organization’s leadership now becomes part of the system; we are talking about true leadership, not just management. In the past, organizations were required to hold an occasional management meeting; now leadership needs to be integrated into all the planning considerations.”

An overall theme to the MasterControl ISO 9001 webinar series is that the new standard promotes addressing risk as never before. The new standard is designed to create risk-based thinking. As an example, Murray states, “The old step of Preventative Action is dead, and it is now replaced with an orientation around a risk-based thought process. Risk is addressed all the way through the new standard.”
